In remembrance of the inmates of a close by poorhouse that operated 1860-1926. This institution cared for (if that’s the right word) the old, sick and infirm that the hospitals and workhouses did not want. Add a sprinkling of the mentally ill. Today it’s an inner city residential area.
I felt it suited the subject better to do these images in black and white rather than color. So I went the whole hog and did the series using analogue equipment. Besides, I enjoy shooting analogue now and then.
For fun I also used a 60ies point and shoot that I picked up for 5 dollars. The lens provides magnificent distortion, very soft corners but is surprisingly sharp in the middle. At least in good light and given a steady hand.
